My mixer is being delivered soon. What's next?
You just received an MXD Process Mixer and are excited to start mixing! We’re excited for you as well, but let’s make sure everything is in order before plugging in your MXD Process Mixer.
Delivery
Our mixers will arrive in boxes via UPS or on pallets via freight. The shaft of your mixer will likely arrive in a separate tube-shaped package.
If you only received one package and are missing the shaft or mixer, don’t worry! Check your UPS tracking information to see if there is another shipment on the way.
If you don’t have your tracking information, please reach out to us, and we will be happy to provide it.
On receipt, check all packages for any visible damage. If any visible damage is discovered, please take pictures for your records. Shipment through us is covered by insurance. If damage to your mixer is discovered, we will assist you by filing an insurance claim and provide you with appropriate replacements.
Do not discard any packaging until your mixer has been commissioned.
Unbox your mixer(s)! Verify the contents of each package against your sales order to determine everything is present. Inspect all components for any signs of damage. Record any damage and take pictures for a potential insurance claim with us. If you believe you are missing components, be sure to get in touch with MXD Process Support as soon as possible for assistance.
Pre-Installation
Once your mixer has been checked for any physical damage and all components are accounted for, it’s time to prepare for installation!
Read through your manual before attempting any assembly or pre-installation checks. For standard mixers, your manual can be found (here). Standard manuals can be helpful for custom-designed mixers, but you may need further assistance that our product support team will be happy to provide.
Check the functionality of any powered components before installing any components.
- If your mixer is specified for 120v, 1-phase power, it will come with a standard US power cord.
- Plug in your mixer and see if the motor runs (without shaft and impeller installed). You only need to do this for a few seconds.
- If your mixer has a VFD (variable frequency drive) for speed control, you will plug in the VFD to provide power to the mixer motor.
- Test the VFD by pressing start and increasing speed on the control panel. This only needs to be done for a few seconds.
- If the motor or VFD does not respond appropriately, please reach out to product support for assistance.
- If your mixer is not rated for 120v, 1-phase power, it will come with bare wire leads. You will need an electrician to wire the appropriate cord and plug for your outlet type.
Before mounting the mixer, you should verify all components fit together.
- Test fit your shaft into your mixer cone or coupler.
- Test fit your impellers to your mixer shaft.
Note any discrepancies and reach out to MXD Process Product Support for assistance.
Ready to Install
You are now ready to install your mixer! For mounting specifications, please refer to your manual or sales order.
Once installed, do not test your mixer without liquid in the vessel.
Dry running your mixer in an empty vessel can result in vibrations that can damage or destroy your equipment. Always test fully installed mixers in liquid.
