How do I prepare to receive a tank from MXD Process?

Receiving a tank from MXD Process can be quite an undertaking. We’re here to help you be prepared before and during tank delivery.

Pre-Arrival

All tanks shipped by MXD Process will be shipped via a freight carrier.

It’s important to communicate receiving hours, shipping bay specifications, and other special delivery requirements with your Account Executive.

You will receive a PRO number and estimated delivery time from our team.

Often, tanks are delivered directly to their installation site and will be installed shortly after delivery.

To avoid unnecessary downtime and labor, your support structure or foundation should be ready upon tank delivery. Make sure the installation site is clean and free from obstructions.

Unless otherwise stated, you are responsible for the installation of your tank(s). You will want to make sure you have everything you need available.

Depending on the size and complexity of your tank, installers, riggers, plumbers, and electricians may be necessary to install your MXD Process tank successfully.

Unless otherwise specified, you will need to have unloading equipment available.

The equipment needed will depend on the size and complexity of your tank.
Common specialty unloading equipment can include:

  • Pallet Jack
  • Forklift
  • Crane

Do not hesitate to contact Product Support or your Project Manager for any specific questions about your delivery.

Arrival Day

When your tanks arrive, your driver will ask you to sign your bill of lading as proof of receipt.

It is critical to inspect your delivery for shipping damages before signing it and accepting it.

  1. Compare your bill of lading provided by your driver with the delivered equipment. If anything is missing, record that on the bill.
  2. Inspect all provided equipment for any signs of damage. Note any damage to your delivery on the bill of lading.
    1. If there’s any damage or missing components, please contact MXD Process Product Support, or Project Manager as soon as possible. Do not open any pallets and pause installation until further notice. For instances of damage, we will want to file an insurance claim with the freight company, and this often requires an inspection by a third party. Instances of damage can greatly delay your installation but without following proper procedures, you could be stuck with damaged or faulty equipment.
  3. After this is completed, you can sign and accept your delivery.

Now that your shipment has been successfully delivered and any missing or damaged pallets accounted for and replaced, you are ready for order verification.

Depending on the complexity of your tank, you will have an engineering drawing provided. You should inspect the tank and verify that it matches your signed approval drawing. If you find any discrepancies, please reach out to MXD Process for warranty considerations.

As you unbox any additional equipment, if you find that you are missing some components, please contact us for replacement. You should refer to your sales order and your engineering drawing for verification of all provided components.

Testing

Your MXD Process Tank has been quality and leak tested. It is recommended that you perform a water leak test before fully installing your tank. MXD Process will never ship you a tank that has failed quality or leak tests, but sometimes, damage can occur during shipping that is not discovered until the tank is filled.

Performing a leak test before installation can save a significant amount of time and labor if repairs are needed to remedy any discovered leaks.

Installation

Now you are ready to install your tank! Please follow all safety regulations. Always look to professionals for any specialized installation needs.

Do not attempt to install the equipment yourself if you do not have the training or ability to do so.

If you have a mixer that will be used with your tank, please refer to our mixer installation checklist for any questions regarding mixer installation. Always remember that you should never run a mixer in an empty tank as it can cause vibrations that could lead to the destruction of your mixer and tank.

Reach out to MXD Process Product Support for any installation questions.
